The Department of Health has been notified of a further 452 cases of Covid-19. The number of people in ICU is 14. Daily case numbers may change due to future data review, validation and update.
It comes after Taoiseach Micheál Martin told the Dáil that the National Public Health Emergency Team gave the Government stark warnings about hospitalisations and deaths arising from the Delta variant.
Meanwhile, Tánaiste Leo Varadkar said the next three weeks would be used to accelerate the vaccine programme and to monitor the Delta wave based on what is happening in the UK.
