Covid-19: 448 new cases, 8 further deaths

The Department of Health has reported 448 new cases of Covid-19 and 8 further deaths. The number of patients in hospital with coronavirus now stands at 109.

34 of those patients are receiving treatment in ICU. In Northern Ireland, the Department of Health reported no further deaths of patients who had previously tested positive for coronavirus.

113 new cases of the disease have been confirmed in the past 24 hours. On Wednesday morning there were 50 patients in hospital who were Covid positive, of whom four were in intensive care. Latest coronavirus stories It comes as figures show that less than 1% of people deemed to be in the high-risk Group 7 for Covid-19 have received a vaccine so far.
