The Department of Health has been notified of 4,728 new cases of Covid-19, including 2,098 PCR-confirmed cases of the virus and 2,630 positive antigen tests registered through the HSE portal.

As of 8am today there are 933 patients with the disease in hospital, a reduction of 71 on yesterday's figure. There are 58 Covid-19 patients in intensive care.

Meanwhile, in Northern Ireland, the Department of Health has been notified of another 770 positive cases of the virus in the past 24 hours.

The deaths of a further three patients who had previously tested positive for Covid-19 have also been reported. This morning there were 466 Covid-positive patients in hospital, of whom four are in intensive care.
