The Department of Health has reported 1,819 new cases of Covid-19 with 206 people in hospital, unchanged from yesterday. Latest figures show 36 people with the virus are in ICU.
In a statement, Deputy Chief Medical Officer Dr Ronan Glynn said that vaccination, along with basic public health measures, are the "most effective way to protect the community against Covid-19".
New figures also show that over 78% of adults are now fully vaccinated against Covid-19. It represents almost 60% of the population.
In a posting on social media, Professor Brian MacCraith, the Chairperson of the High Level Task Force on Covid-19 Vaccination, said that over 89% of adults have now received at least one dose.
