The Department of Health has confirmed 1,071 new cases of Covid-19. There are 101 patients in hospital, with 20 of these in ICU, which is down two on yesterday.

Chief Medical Officer Dr Tony Holohan said the 14-day incidence rate is at its highest since February. He urged people who are not yet fully vaccinated to socialise outdoors.

However, there now appears to be less of a link between cases and hospitalisations, partly due to the impact of vaccination, but health experts will be watching the situation closely.
