Macauley who was a factory worker before losing his job moved them both into a local hotel but they again could not pay the bills and ended up on the street.Shannon used to work in a call centre and moved to England from Ireland to be with Macauley after the pair met playing the popular computer game online.They have found it difficult to make ends meet during the coronavirus pandemic and set up a tent in the district of Gedling, hoping the local council would offer support.Macauley started begging.
