Council refuses to grant licence for Electric Picnic

Laois County Council has refused to grant a licence to hold the Electric Picnic music festival this year. The event had been due to take place from 24 to 26 September at Stradbally Hall Estate.

In a statement, the local authority said the decision was made "following the most up-to-date public health advice made available to the council from the Health Service Executive." The council added that "under current Government measures for the management of Covid-19 events of this nature are restricted to an attendance of 500 people only."
