Covid rates are continuing to rise across Greater Manchester in the run up to Christmas - with some boroughs reporting their highest ever levels since the pandemic began.
Five boroughs have hit new peaks in the number of positive cases recorded since the start of the pandemic. These are Trafford, Manchester, Bury, Salford and Stockport.
On the whole, the Greater Manchester infection rate in the week ending December 16 is 733.8 per 100,000 people - the highest it has ever been since March 2020.
Its previous peak was six months ago, with a rate of 657.1 cases per 100,000 on July 19. Trafford is the borough which currently has the highest infection rate out of all ten local authority areas.
