Coronation Street’s Simon Gregson contracted coronavirus after ITV axed soap filming

Coronation Street actor Simon Gregson has told fans how he has contracted Covid-19. Simon, 45, who plays Steve McDonald in the hit ITV soap, took to social media to explain he has been stuck in bed for days.

The actor said: "First day out of bed today starting to feel a little better after contracting the virus. "My main symptom was gastric and still is bloody awful but lucky to not have respiratory. "Stay safe everyone x." The post was quickly flooded with messages of support from concerned fans. "Simon so sorry to hear that you have the virus!

Take care of yourself and get well soon! We all need you and Steve!" one fan wrote. A second added: "Oh gosh Bless you, so glad your feeling a little better.
