A homeless woman has raised concerns that a Tameside shelter was ‘turning residents out onto the streets’ during the day despite them having been exposed to positive coronavirus cases.The Town House in Ashton-under-Lyne opened in July as the council’s main provision for rough sleepers in the form of an overnight hostel, and also the borough’s A Bed Every Night accommodation.One person who was staying at the shelter told the Local Democracy Service that she had raised concerns with the Greater Manchester Mayoral office about the way it was being run, and the provisions for people to self-isolate.Tameside council says that measures were ‘always in place’ so that any service user who develops symptoms of Covid-19, tests positive, or has close.
