Concerns have been raised about the number of people sharing bedrooms with non-family members in direct provision centres. Figures released in a response to a parliamentary question made by TD Catherine Connolly show that 1,892 people were assigned a shared bedroom as of 31 March this year.
The Irish Refugee Council says it's an increase compared to April last year when 1,700 people shared a bedroom. It’s CEO, Nick Henderson says the latest figures demonstrate the need to end direct provision as soon as possible.
