Colourful characters will flock to first ever Perth Comic Con this summer following COVID cancellations

Colourful comic book cosplayers and fantastical fans will flock to Perth this summer as the city hosts its first ever comic con event following two COVID cancellations.

Perth Comic Con, run by BGCP (Big Glasgow Comic Page), will take place at Dewars Centre on August 6 from 10am to 4pm. More than 70 traders will set up stalls selling comic books, graphic novels, signed and graded books, independent comics, and artwork to fans.Funko pops, props, action figures, anime, trading cards, clothing, and Dungeons and Dragons relics will also be available to visitors.Special comic guest writers and artists will also be attending, along with workshops, gaming stations, guests and cosplayers.The event was first scheduled to be held at Dewars Centre in 2020 but was cancelled due to the COVID pandemic, and was rescheduled for the second half of 2021.However, on August 23 last year the BGCP group posted on its Perth Facebook page: “[A] reminder that the event was postponed due to COVID-19 and the venue being used as a vaccination centre.“Our new date is now August 6, 2022, all tickets and workshops will be valid for then but anyone wanting refunded can receive one by contacting us via private message or the website.”BGCP Comic Con was started as The Big Glasgow Comic Page back in July 2012.A statement on the website reads: “The Facebook Page gathered likes extremely fast as there wasn’t anything like it at the time and eventually this led to a comic book group, pub quizzes, tournaments and eventually a comic book market.“We organized BGCP Comic Markets for several years until we had outgrown the smaller venues in Glasgow city centre so set out to run comic cons in and out of Glasgow and further over Scotland including East Kilbride,
