City officials have imposed heavy fines on people leaving the house without covering their faces in a bid to tackle the spread of coronavirus.
In the Texas city of Laredo, near the US-Mexico border, residents are now required to cover their nose and mouth when going out in public, reports Daily Mail.
Every resident over the age of five will be required to wear a homemade mask, scarf or bandana when entering a public place, whether it be a building, petrol station or on public transport.
The strict new rule has been effective since April 2, where residents can use anything to cover their face or face paying a fine of up to £800 ($1,000).
