The Construction Industry Federation is warning that the Level 5 restrictions are already having a significant impact on house building and say it is essential that the industry reopens fully in early April.

It comes as concerns grow over rising Covid-19 case numbers and what impact it will have on any easing of restrictions. Public health officials say there has been a stalling in the progress being made in reducing the transmission of Covid-19 - with concerns over high case numbers in recent days and GPs reporting increased referrals for testing.

But the Director General of the Construction Industry Federation Tom Parlon said today that it is crucial that the sector is reopened on 5 April.
