'Christmas is cancelled' as Ayrshire town market event deemed terrorist threat and Covid 'super spreader'

Grinches at South Ayrshire Council, Ayrshire Roads Alliance and Police Scotland have been blamed for putting the kybosh on Prestwick’s Christmas Market.

Ayrshire Live can reveal that organisers have been forced to cancel the event following fears it could be targeted by terrorists.

It was also viewed as a potential ‘super spreader’ for Covid.Now a perceived 'lack of support' for the event by the three organisations has provoked a backlash from a fuming councillor, traders and the public.The traditional Christmas lights switch-on had already been banned by the council amid concerns over large gatherings in the Covid climate.
