The Catholic Archbishop of Dublin has called for the Government to allow greater numbers assemble in churches for funerals and masses once Level 5 restrictions end.
In his St Patrick's Day homily yesterday, Archbishop Dermot Farrell said religious worship had "a clear human priority" over other activities and called for the "constitutional right to worship" to be "prioritised in the easing of restrictions".
He said the restriction on attendance at funerals to ten people is tolerable only in the most extreme circumstances, and for the shortest possible period.
Speaking on RTÉ's Morning Ireland, the archbishop said the limits are "too rigid, too blunt and could be relaxed somewhat" and still keep people safe.
