Cases of Covid-19 in hospitals reducing. vaccinations for over 85s get under way

Figures from the Health Service Executive show that the pressure on hospitals due to Covid-19 continues to reduce. Last night, there were 849 confirmed cases in hospitals, down 67 cases.

All the indicators are that cases of confirmed Covid-19 in hospitals are reducing. Last night, figures from the HSE put the number of patients with disease in hospital at 849, down 67 cases on earlier in the day.

Some hospitals remain very busy, with St James's in Dublin dealing with 100 cases, the Mater 75 and Connolly hospital 72. The number of patients in intensive care has also fallen slightly to 155.

Meanwhile, the vaccination programme for patients aged 85 years and older is getting under way in some, but not all, GP practices.
