An incorporeal meeting of Cabinet is to take place this evening, to add further countries to the mandatory hotel quarantine list.
An incorporeal meeting is unscheduled and ministers can contribute virtually. Minister for European Affairs Thomas Byrne said the quarantine decision will be "a temporary measure in the interest of public health".
It comes as both Minister for Foreign Affairs Simon Coveney, and Minister for Transport Eamon Ryan have both said in recent days that further EU countries are to be added to the list.
Mr Coveney yesterday said that the Government were looking at the issues which would flow from the move as a result, such as capacity and potential legal issues.
