The Cabinet sub-committee on Covid-19 is meeting in Government Buildings to discuss the phased reopening of schools. A plan to bring junior and senior infants, along with first and second class, back to the classroom early next month is being discussed.
The return of other classes would likely be delayed for two to three weeks. Leaving Certificate students would also return, possibly on 1 March.
Deputy Chief Medical Officer Dr Ronan Glynn is also attending the meeting. Elsewhere, the timetables for this year's Leaving Certificate have been published, with the first written exam scheduled for 9 June.
