Brothers charged in Philadelphia street shooting that injured 2, prosecutors say

MENDON, Mo. - The Missouri State Highway Patrol said at least four people were killed when an Amtrak train derailed after hitting a dump truck in Missouri at a crossing Monday.Authorities initially said two people were killed inside the train and one person was killed in the truck. They did not release their names. A fourth person died from injuries suffered in an Amtrak train derailment in Missouri, the state highway patrol said Tuesday. The patrol said the person died at the University of Missouri Health Center.

PHILADELPHIA - A woman has been hospitalized in critical condition after being hit by a police cruiser in South Philadelphia, authorities say. According to officials, the 55-year-old woman was struck by the cruiser near 9th and South Streets around 9:10 a.m. Tuesday. Police say the woman sustained multiple injuries throughout her body. MORE LOCAL HEADLINESShe was transported to Jefferson Hospital where she remains in critical condition, per authorities. Police have not released details about the circumstances of the crash. This is a developing story.

PHILADELPHIA - A Philadelphia man is facing several charges after officials say his plans to carjack food delivery drivers turned deadly for one elderly victim.John Nusslein, 18, is accused of placing food delivery orders as a ruse to lure drivers in at least two separate occasions last year. He reportedly worked with co-conspirators during each incident.In the first alleged attack, police say Nusslein was involved in the beating of a 70-year-old delivery driver and stealing his car on the 3000 block of Teesdale Street. The victim eventually died from his injuries, and a 12-year-old boy was charged with murder in connection to his death.Less than two weeks later, a second delivery driver was carjacked at gunpoint on the 9000 block of Hilspach Street.

PHILADELPHIA - The Philadelphia Police Department is investigating after an off-duty corrections officer was carjacked at gunpoint and shot at the alleged carjacker in Feltonville on Monday night. According to Chief Inspector Scott Small, officers with the 25th District received a 911 call for a robbery and gunshots on the 200 block of E Roosevelt Boulevard around 11 p.m. When officers arrived on location, they were met by an off-duty corrections officer, 59, who said he was leaving a friend's house and getting into his Toyota Avalon when he was approached by a man with a gun who pulled him out of the car, police say. According to authorities, the alleged carjacker got into the driver's seat of the car and began to drive away as the off-duty corrections officer fired five shots at the suspect and the car. The suspect sped off in the car and officers located it about 25 minutes later on the 4900 block of Bingham Street, officials say. Small says the vehicle was found with five bullet holes in it and fresh blood inside the car. Authorities say officers were also notified that a 21-year-old shooting victim with a gunshot wound in each arm showed up for treatment at Temple Hospital. Small says there is a possibility that the shooting victim may be the alleged carjacker and authorities are investigating. According to police, the off-duty officer said the suspect was wearing a surgical mask and a hooded sweatshirt with the hood pulled over his head.

PHILADELPHIA - A Philadelphia man is facing a long road to recovery after his wife say he was robbed and badly beaten by a group of teenagers while he was walking to a concert.Michelle Ferrara said her husband Benjamin left their Fairmount home just after 8 p.m. Friday to see a show at Union Transfer when he was attacked 2 blocks away. A neighbor's surveillance camera captured the moments before the attack, a teenager is seen running up behind him and three others join in. "He has staples completely running down his head and along his head because they removed part of his skull to alleviate pressure on his brain," Michelle said. She got a call from the hospital around 9:30 Friday saying her husband suffered severe head trauma with a brain bleed.

PHILADELPHIA - Authorities say four people were shot in a pair of unrelated nighttime shootings Monday night in Philadelphia. Investigators say two men, ages 18 and 25, showed up at Albert Einstein Medical Center around 8 p.m. suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Authorities say both young men were shot while sitting in front of a property on the 4900 block of Wayne Avenue. Both victims were placed in critical, but stable, condition, according to police.

PHILADELPHIA - Authorities say two men were shot to death Monday afternoon inside a property in South Philadelphia. Officers from the Philadelphia Police Department were called to the 1600 block of South 10th Street around 1:30 p.m.

PHILADELPHIA - A robbery caught on camera earlier this month has police asking for the public's help to identify three suspects.Police say a 26-year-old man was inside a store on the 1900 block of York Street when a man approached him, and asked where he was from.The suspect reportedly pushed him against a wall, held him by his throat, then pistol whipped him in the head. Police say he also took the victim's Glock 19, 9 mm handgun.Moments later, two more men entered the store, confronted the victim, and allegedly stole his backpack.

ATLANTA - An argument over mayonnaise at a Downtown Atlanta Subway ended with one worker dead and another in the hospital.Police say the shooting happened around 6:30 p.m. at a Subway located at a gas station on Northside Drive Southwest.Police say a customer killed one worker at a Downtown Atlanta Subway and sent another to the hospital over an argument about the amount of mayo on his sandwich.The owner of the Subway says the reason for the shooting was something small: a customer was mad about mayo."Believe it or not, it was about too much mayonnaise on his sandwich," owner Willie Glenn said.In this argument, police say the customer shot two Subway employees, leaving a 26-year-old woman dead and another 24-year-old woman rushed to surgery in critical condition."He decided to escalate the situation and from there - that's when all hell broke loose," Glenn said.Glenn said the injured employee's 5-year-old son was inside the store when the shooting started.Glenn said the manager on duty returned fire at the suspect, but wasn't able to hit him."I don't know what the world is coming to especially with our youth.

GLENDALE, Ariz. - Police say they have arrested a man who shot and killed a woman who was sitting inside her vehicle on the side of the road in Glendale.The incident happened just before 7:30 p.m. on June 11 near 59th Avenue and Bell Road.

PHILADELPHIA - A woman is dead after police say a crash in Mayfair became fatal Sunday night.The 21-year-old woman was driving a silver Honda when she crashed into a traffic light pole on Levick and Hawthorne streets around 9:09 p.m.Police say she was pronounced dead on the scene by medics at 9:22 p.m.Another person, a 20-year-old woman, was also in the car at the time of the crash, according to police.

WILMINGTON, Del. - Wilmington police are investigating a shooting that critically injured an 18-year-old and a 12-year-old.According to officials, police were called to 24th and Tatnall Streets Friday, around 3:45 in the afternoon, on the report of a shooting.Officers found an 18-year-old male and a 12-year-old male at a local hospital, listed in critical condition.Responding officers found another 18-year-old male with non-life threatening gunshot wounds, at the scene. He was taken to the hospital and listed in stable condition.Police are investigating a possible motive into the gunfire.

PHILADELPHIA - A Philadelphia woman is facing charges in a deadly hit-and-run crash that killed a 21-year-old woman, authorities say. Quadera Parrish, 25, turned herself into police on Friday with her attorney and was charged with several crimes including homicide by vehicle. It's alleged that Parrish was behind the wheel of a gray Tesla that struck and killed 21-year-old Dia Lee on Germantown Avenue last Monday. Police shared photos of the wanted vehicle hours after the fatal crash and urged anyone with information to reach out to the Philadelphia Police Department.Dia Lee, 21, was crossing Germantown Avenue on Culter Street around 7 p.m. when police say a speeding Tesla struck her and kept driving.

PHILADELPHIA - The Philadelphia Police Department is grieving the loss of one of their own after an off-duty officer was killed in a crash in Somerton on Thursday. Philadelphia Chief Inspector Scott Small says just before midnight, officers in the 7th District received numerous calls about a crash at the intersection of Bustleton Avenue and Rennard Street. According to authorities, when officers and medics arrived on scene, they found two vehicles involved in the crash. A Philadelphia police officer was killed in a crash while on his way home from work, authorities say. FOX 29's Steve Keeley has the latest.A 50-year-old man driving a Hyundai was transported to Jefferson-Torresdale Hospital, where he was pronounced dead upon arrival, authorities say. The vehicle that struck the officer's car was a BMW with an 18-year-old driver and two teenage passengers, police say. None of the individuals in the BMW were injured and they denied medical treatment, according to officials. MORE LOCAL HEADLINESInvestigators say the Hyundai was traveling west on Rennard Street crossing Bustelon Avenue as the BMW was going south on Bustleton Avenue. The BMW struck the passenger side of the Hyundai, jumped the curb and then struck a tree, per authorities. Police say a witness spoke to accident investigators and say the BMW was traveling at a high rate of speed. Small says through the investigation,  police learned the driver of the Hyundai was an active Philadelphia police officer who had just finished the night shift and was driving home in his personal vehicle. The officer was a 27-year veteran with the Philadelphia Police Department, according to Small. "It's a real tragedy," Small said.

PHILADELPHIA - A pair of dognappers stormed into a Philadelphia man's home and stole his French bulldog puppy that he recently got for his daughter. Kevin Long told FOX 29 that he brought the dog named Chaos home less than a week ago to give to his 11-year-old daughter. On Wednesday night police say two men, one armed with a gun, forced their way into Long's home on the 4800 block of Darrah Street and demanded the dog. Chaos, a French bulldog, was stolen from a Philadelphia home Wednesday night. According to police the suspects knocked on Long's door and asked for someone who doesn't live there.

NORTHEAST PHILADELPHIA - Key fobs have made getting into cars much easier, but, of course, criminals have found a way to use fobs against consumers. Police say crooks are actually getting into cars even when the key fobs are in the home.Police say a brazen thief, caught on Ring camera, is seen stealthily canvassing people’s driveways in Northeast Philadelphia in the middle of the night, quickly and quietly breaking into cars. PHILADELPHIA - Authorities say two men were killed in a quadruple shooting Thursday night in Philadelphia's Point Breeze section. Officers from the Philadelphia Police Department were called to the 1200 block of South Bucknell Street just after 9 p.m. for reports of gunfire. A 36-year-old man was shot over a dozen times and pronounced dead, according to authorities.

PHILADELPHIA - A former Springside Chestnut Hill Academy teacher and an accomplice have pled guilty to multiple child sexual abuse offenses, U.S. Attorney Jacqueline Romero announced.Philadelphia resident Andrew Wolf, 42, and Carthage, New York resident Kray Strange, 20, were indicted on charges of conspiracy to manufacture child sexual abuse materials, along with other charges, in February.Officials said the two carried out an elaborate online child exploitation catfishing scheme from May 202 to October 2021.
