Brit troops to smash jihadist uprising in 'world's most dangerous peace-keeping mission'

British troops are helping to smash a huge jihadist uprising in a new frontline dubbed the “most dangerous peace-keeping mission in the world”.

Hundreds more combat soldiers will join RAF crews in backing French forces fighting al-Qaeda and Islamic State in Mali, West Africa.

On Friday, UK defence officials said a 100-strong RAF team flying French troops into battle will remain there for three years.

Another 250 British troops from the Light Dragoons and the Royal Anglian Regiment will join the UN mission later this year to stop the jihad spreading into Europe.
