A Bristol variant of coronavirus could reinfect people who have been vaccinated, a SAGE expert warned. Professor John Edmunds said the strain could also reinfect those who have simply been diagnosed with coronavirus before, adding it would be "very dangerous" to let the virus rip through the UK.
The new variant emerged last week and was found to have developed directly from the Kent strain. It includes a mutation called E484K, allowing the virus to evade vaccines more easily.
