LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) - Questioning of potential jurors begins Tuesday for the trial of a former Kentucky police officer involved in a botched raid that killed Breonna Taylor, a 26-year-old Louisville emergency medical technician.Brett Hankison has pleaded not guilty to three counts of wanton endangerment for allegedly firing wildly into the apartments of Taylor’s neighbors during the March 2020 raid.

Taylor, a Black woman, was shot multiple times. No drugs were found, and the warrant was later found to be flawed. No officers were charged for causing Taylor's death, despite protests nationwide, with many demonstrators demanding that the officers involved stand trial for murder.

That set the outcome apart from two other killings of Black people at the hands of white people in 2020 that put race relations in the national spotlight: the death of George Floyd in the custody of Minneapolis police, and the shooting of Ahmaud Arbery, who was chased by three men while running through a Georgia neighborhood.Arbery's pursuers were sentenced to life in prison for murder last month, and their federal hate crimes trial is set to begin next week.

Former Minneapolis Officer Derek Chauvin was sentenced to 22.5 years for murder and manslaughter, and his fellow officers are now being tried in state court.RELATED: Brett Hankison trial: Jury selection starts for ex-cop involved in botched raid that killed Breonna TaylorIn the Taylor case, Kentucky's Republican Attorney General, Daniel Cameron determined that the officers fired into the woman's apartment in self-defense after her boyfriend shot at them first as they broke into her apartment.

Connor Ball's secret health battle - breathing struggle to severe panic attacks
Connor Ball has been impressing viewers across the country with his amazing skating capability on ITV's Dancing On Ice.Wowing the judges week on week with his courageous dance moves and his willingness to push himself further, the 25-year-old musician has certainly earned his place in this year's competition. But although he has gained legions of fans from his singing career, and his presence on Dancing on Ice, Connor - who makes up one-fourth of The Vamps- has previously battled with panic attacks, depression and generalised anxiety order.Daily Star has taken a deeper look inside the star's health battle and how he has learnt to overcome it.In 2018, Connor appeared on ITV's This Morning and spoke to therapists Nik and Eva Speakman regarding his crippling fear of touring.Speaking openly to presenters Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield, Connor revealed: "I suffer with generalised anxiety order, panic attacks and depression as well."In the band, it has affected me because I don’t go to as many things as I would like to or should do. I would like to be going out and seeing more people."When the TV therapists dug a bit deeper, it became evident that the musician felt uneasy when he had to travel to different countries to tour and the problems derived from when he was a lot younger.Talking about a terrifying incident that happened to him in Greece, he recalled: "I remember when we were on holiday and I had to swim under a big rock to get to a beach and I got stuck and I was like ‘I am not going to be able to breathe'."He also spoke candidly about an experience that left him shaken when he was six years old.The star continued: "When I was six I was in Thailand and there were a load of monkey nuts on the table.

Russia’s invasion of Ukraine means Canada faces belligerent Arctic neighbour
READ MORE: Russia threatens response to Canadian sanctionsIn this context, concerns that were previously voiced about the future of Arctic security following Russia’s annexation of Ukraine’s Crimea republic in 2014 have heightened enormously in the past 72 hours. In a chilling attempt to justify Russia’s invasion of its neighbour last week, Putin concocted an imaginary history of Ukraine as an illegitimate state on territory integral to Russia’s national identity. Putin is similarly known to view Russian control over the Arctic as a vital expression of the country’s mythic destiny. The idea that Russia might soon be pressured to halt or reverse its imminent conquest of Ukraine — in response, say, to harsh economic sanctions and unified condemnation among Western countries — seems naïve.That makes it equally hard to imagine a world in which Russia will continue to comply with the genteel terms of the UN Commission on the Limits of the Continental Shelf, the Law of the Sea convention, or with various security, environmental and cultural agreements struck with Canada and other members of the eight-nation Arctic Council — currently chaired by Russia. In flouting the international rules-based order with its unjustifiable invasion of Ukraine, Russia can no longer be counted upon as a constructive partner in any of its multilateral involvements with Canada in the Arctic or elsewhere.READ MORE: Ukrainian Canadians denounce Russian invasion; cities raise Ukrainian flagLong-time Russian foreign minister Sergey Lavrov is one of Putin’s key lieutenants in the war on Ukraine.
