Boris Johnson has been accused of taking a “nonchalant” approach to safety measures after testing positive for coronavirus.

Public health experts have raised concerns that the Prime Minister - who made the shock announcement yesterday - and other senior figures in the battle against Covid-19 are failing to heed their own advice.

It comes as Health Secretary Matt Hancock also announced he had succumbed to the flu-like virus, and Chief Medical Officer Christ Whitty is self-isolating after developing symptoms.

The extraordinary developments mean that the three men leading efforts to contain the pandemic in the UK are likely to have fallen victim to the disease.
