In the last few days, local leaders - including Greater Manchester Mayor Andy Burnham and Bolton North East MP Mark Logan - have called on ministers to support a large-scale vaccination scheme to tackle rising Covid infection rates.

Bolton has recorded 152 new cases of coronavirus per 100,000 people in the last week, the highest figure in Greater Manchester and more than seven times the average for England.
