WASHINGTON - President Joe Biden on Thursday will sign legislation to award law enforcement officers Congressional Gold Medals for protecting Congress during the Jan.
6 riot at the U.S. Capitol by a mob of former President Donald Trump’s supporters.The bill, which passed unanimously by the Senate on Tuesday, will place the medals in four locations: Capitol Police headquarters, the Metropolitan Police Department, the U.S.
Capitol and the Smithsonian Institution.It’s the highest honor Congress can bestow.Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris will hold a ceremony in the White House Rose Garden at 4:30 p.m.
