OAKLAND, Calif. - Best Buy laid off 5,000 full-time employees at its big box stores in February and plans to add 2,000 part-time workers as the pandemic has changed the way consumers shop.On an earnings call Thursday, the electronics retailer said it’s making structural changes to meet enhanced digital demands as online sales account for 43% of domestic sales so far in 2021, up from 19 percent in the 2020 fiscal year.The sharp increase forced the retailer to make operational changes.
