Barry Humphries' health "worsened" over the past week before he was readmitted to St Vincent's Hospital in Sydney. The Australian comedian, 89, best known as character Dame Edna Everage, was rushed to the hospital earlier this week following ongoing complications from a hip replacement surgery and is in a "serious condition".
Barry's hospital dash came after his health "worsened", according to Peter Ford, editor of entertainment at Sunrise. “Barry won’t give up easily.
Whether that’s a realistic goal, I don’t know," he added. News broke of Barry's condition on Wednesday, with his family, including his estranged daughter, reportedly rushing to Sydney to be by his bedside.
The star's loved ones have since shared a statement about his health, which was read out on Australia's 10 News First. The statement read: "Barry Humphries is currently in hospital receiving treatment for health issues.
