Barber shop closed down by council after 'repeatedly flouting' coronavirus rules

Oldham will have to stay shut until at least October 26, following repeated visits from the local council. Oldham council said the Yorkshire Street shop had put staff and customers at risk of catching coronavirus.Council officers were first alerted when a member of the public complained that barbers and customers weren't wearing masks.They have since witnessed a number of safety breaches including barbers not wearing masks or visors, and customers not wearing masks.Officers also found that gowns were being reused between customers, and that there was no hot water at the wash hand basin.One barber was seen cutting a person's hair whilst wearing a mask around his neck.Staff refused to give any details for themselves or the owner to council.
