The baby formula shortage in the United States continues to affect the Canadian market with many parents taking to social media to try and find the formula needed for their infants and toddlers.

Sylvain Charlebois, director of the agrifood and analytics labs at Dalhousie University in Halifax, told Global News that Canada is not immune to what is happening in the U.S.

as Canada relies on its neighbour to the south to import baby formula. “We actually manufacture baby formula in Canada but all of it goes to China,” he said. “That’s why, right now, parents are scratching their heads (and) wondering why are we short?” He said there is some good news, however, as Abbott is set to reopen its plant in Michigan within the next two weeks.

On Feb. 17, the company closed the plant after the Food and Drug Administration found contamination from bacteria. “If that plant reopens then I think North America should be OK but in the meantime, we’re probably going to expect more formula from Europe,” Charlebois said. Read more: U.S.

DA: Man reported hiding in backyards shot by police in Hatfield Township, shooting under investigation

HATFIELD TOWNSHIP, Pa. - A shooting involving a police officer is under investigation in Hatfield Township, according to the Montgomery County District Attorney. Authorities say officers were dispatched to the township on Friday morning just after 7:30 a.m. A resident called 911 to report that a man ran through her backyard and was hiding in her neighbor's yard, according to the DA's office. According to authorities, police found the man between two woodpiles and commanded him to come out and show his hands. Officials say the man, 29, did not comply and officers deployed a Taser. Police say a knife was recovered and aid was immediately rendered to the man who was transported to Grandview Hospital, where he is undergoing surgery. The names of the man and the officers involved have not been released by authorities. The investigation is active and ongoing.

Police: 4 indicted on more than 70 charges connected to stolen cars, shootings in Delaware

WILMINGTON, Del. - Four people have been indicted on dozens of charges in Delaware after an investigation into a series of incidents including stolen cars and shootings. According to the Wilmington Police Department, Kyair Keys, Walike Parham, Markel Richards and Jahmir Morris-Whit collectively face 75 charges for crimes between January 14 and January 22. Of those charges, 63 are felonies, according to police. Police say on January 14 around 3:37 p.m., shots were fired on the 300 block of West 23rd Street, where a daycare with a teacher and three children was struck by gunfire. Authorities say on January 20 around 8:46 p.m., officers heard gunfire on the 1000 block of Lombard Street. When officers arrived, they saw four armed suspects get into a car, according to police. Officials say police began to chase the four suspects and Morris-Whit, 21, was taken into custody while the remaining suspects fled the scene. Two days later on January 22, officers responded to reports of gunshots at a BP gas station on the 200 block of South Heald Street, authorities say.

At 1,797, Delhi sees 36% rise in Covid-19 cases, positivity rate over 8%
