Ayrshire's most senior firefighter said that he couldn't walk five yards without being out of breath after contracting coronavirus.Ian McMeekin, 48, said he was barely able to walk after being stricken with the deadly virus at the start of lockdown. The local senior officer (LSO) for Ayrshire said he was very lucky and that his situation could have been a lot worse. He said: “This is something I would never want to go through again – it could have been a lot worse were it not for the outstanding work of my local GP.“I still have no idea how I contracted the virus which is why I’d urge people to avoid becoming complacent as lockdown eases.
