ATLANTA - As COVID-19 cases continue to trend downward in the United States, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has a new sublineage of the delta variant on its radar.According to Dr.
Rochelle Walensky, director of the CDC, the AY4.2 sublineage recently identified in the United Kingdom has also been observed in the United States."There are new variants that continue to emerge as cases continue to spread," Walensky said in Wednesday’s COVID-19 briefing.
