PHILADELPHIA - An 11-year-old girl was hospitalized Thursday after police say she was shot inside a home in Philadelphia’s Logan neighborhood.Philadelphia police say the incident occurred around 1:18 p.m. inside a home on the 4500 block of North 13th Street. The girl suffered a single gunshot wound to her right shoulder.

PHILADELPHIA - The Philadelphia Police Department is set to announce the offering of a reward in connection with a West Philadelphia hit-and-run that left a woman and two children hurt on Monday. According to authorities, officers were called to the intersection of 50th Street and Haverford Avenue around 10 p.m. for reports of a hit-and-run. Philadelphia Chief Inspector Scott Small told reporters that a 29-year-old woman and two girls, ages 3 and 13, were standing on the side of the road when a vehicle jumped the curb, hit a fire hydrant and then struck the three victims. Police have released surveillance images of a car wanted in connection with a hit-and-run in West Philadelphia.  The vehicle continued driving after it struck the woman and two girls, according to police. The woman was taken to Penn Presbyterian Hospital, where she remains in critical condition with a severe leg injury and the girls were sent to CHOP in stable condition. Captain mark Overwise, the Commanding Officer of the Philadelphia Police Department's Accident Investigation District, is holding a press conference at 1 p.m.

PHILADELPHIA - Investigators with the Philadelphia Police Department are searching for a suspect wanted in connection with a house fire in Tacony. Police say the suspect, who they are asking for the public's help to identify, was caught on video on the 4900 block of Wellington Street around 3:51 a.m.

Philadelphia Police Cruiser PHILADELPHIA - The Philadelphia Police Department is actively investigating a triple shooting that occurred in Kensington on Wednesday night, according to authorities. Police say they were notified that shooting victims showed up at Temple University Hospital by private vehicle. According to officials, a 17-year-old boy was shot in the right arm and a 23-year-old man suffered a cut on his head from broken glass. MORE LOCAL HEADLINESAuthorities also say an 18-year-old was shot in the chest and transported to Temple University Hospital by ambulance. All victims are in stable condition, according to officials. Police say the three victims were traveling in a 2013 Cadillac on Emerald Street when they were shot.The investigation is active and ongoing, according to authorities. 

President Biden has tested positive for COVID-19, the White House just confirmed.

Ontario government says it will extend its paid sick days program for missed work as a result of COVID-19 until the end of March 2023.The extension will last another eight months until March 31, 2023.Eligible workers will continue to get up to $200 a day for up to three days if they need to get tested, vaccinated, get booster shots, self-isolate or care for a family member who is ill from COVID-19, the government said.The government said it will keep reimbursing eligible employers for the paid leave days. Ford government urged to extend paid sick leave amid COVID-19 wave Earlier in July, Premier Doug Ford was urged to extend the program as it was slated to end on July 31.The provincial Worker Income Protection Benefit program was first introduced in April 2021 during the Alpha-Delta-driven wave of COVID-19 and extended amid the Omicron stage of the pandemic.Since the program was implemented, government data shows around half-a-million workers have relied on the program to call in sick without interrupting their pay.Previously, as of June 24, the government had said 470,000 workers have claimed a sick day, costing the province $189 million.

Ontario government says it will open up booking for COVID-19 vaccine appointments for children who are 6 months old to 5 years old next week.Starting on Thursday, July 28 at 8 a.m., parents of the youngest children will be able to get them a pediatric COVID-19 vaccine.Appointments can be made through the province’s vaccination portal, local public health units, participating pharmacies, primary care providers and paediatricians.“The approval of a lower dose paediatric Moderna vaccine will give families the opportunity to provide an additional layer of protection against COVID-19 for the youngest members of their families,” said Sylvia Jones, deputy premier and minister of health. PHILADELPHIA - Police are investigating a crash in Northeast Philadelphia involving a teenager behind the wheel, according to authorities. Police say a traffic officer on patrol saw a Toyota Camry being driven at a high rate of speed in the area of Grant Avenue and Bluegrass Road around 2:30 a.m. The officer began to follow the vehicle as it traveled to Welsh and Bluegrass where it almost crashed into a marked police car, authorities say. At the intersection of Welsh Road and Dewees Street, the car jumped the curb, crashed through the fence of a private home, and drove over the lawn before it was launched into the air and landed on another car, Chief Inspector Scott Small said. The car then crashed into the front of two twin homes, putting a large crack in the stone in the front of the property, authorities say. The damage to the front of the properties is so extensive that inspectors have deemed it unsafe, police say. Small says the officer who was following the Camry then took the driver, a 15-year-old, into custody. Investigators say the car had been reported stolen from Northeast Philadelphia about 1 hour before. Small says speed and reckless driving were a factor in the crash.  

PHILADELPHIA - The Philadelphia 76ers are set to get a new home in Center City. According to a press release, the team's managing partners, Josh Harris and David Blitzer, announced the creation of a new development company called 76 Devcorp, which will be responsible for developing "the future home of the Philadelphia 76ers." The project will be led by Philadelphia business leader David Adelman and Harris Blitzer Sports Entertainment and will pursue the privately-funded sports and entertainment area called 76 Place. "The Philadelphia 76ers are a storied Philadelphia institution with a proven track record of investing in their community. PHILADELPHIA - The Philadelphia Police Department is investigating after an off-duty corrections officer was carjacked at gunpoint and shot at the alleged carjacker in Feltonville on Monday night. According to Chief Inspector Scott Small, officers with the 25th District received a 911 call for a robbery and gunshots on the 200 block of E Roosevelt Boulevard around 11 p.m. When officers arrived on location, they were met by an off-duty corrections officer, 59, who said he was leaving a friend's house and getting into his Toyota Avalon when he was approached by a man with a gun who pulled him out of the car, police say. According to authorities, the alleged carjacker got into the driver's seat of the car and began to drive away as the off-duty corrections officer fired five shots at the suspect and the car. The suspect sped off in the car and officers located it about 25 minutes later on the 4900 block of Bingham Street, officials say. Small says the vehicle was found with five bullet holes in it and fresh blood inside the car. Authorities say officers were also notified that a 21-year-old shooting victim with a gunshot wound in each arm showed up for treatment at Temple Hospital. Small says there is a possibility that the shooting victim may be the alleged carjacker and authorities are investigating. According to police, the off-duty officer said the suspect was wearing a surgical mask and a hooded sweatshirt with the hood pulled over his head.

PHILADELPHIA - The Philadelphia Police Department is grieving the loss of one of their own after an off-duty officer was killed in a crash in Somerton on Thursday. Philadelphia Chief Inspector Scott Small says just before midnight, officers in the 7th District received numerous calls about a crash at the intersection of Bustleton Avenue and Rennard Street. According to authorities, when officers and medics arrived on scene, they found two vehicles involved in the crash. A Philadelphia police officer was killed in a crash while on his way home from work, authorities say. FOX 29's Steve Keeley has the latest.A 50-year-old man driving a Hyundai was transported to Jefferson-Torresdale Hospital, where he was pronounced dead upon arrival, authorities say. The vehicle that struck the officer's car was a BMW with an 18-year-old driver and two teenage passengers, police say. None of the individuals in the BMW were injured and they denied medical treatment, according to officials. MORE LOCAL HEADLINESInvestigators say the Hyundai was traveling west on Rennard Street crossing Bustelon Avenue as the BMW was going south on Bustleton Avenue. The BMW struck the passenger side of the Hyundai, jumped the curb and then struck a tree, per authorities. Police say a witness spoke to accident investigators and say the BMW was traveling at a high rate of speed. Small says through the investigation,  police learned the driver of the Hyundai was an active Philadelphia police officer who had just finished the night shift and was driving home in his personal vehicle. The officer was a 27-year veteran with the Philadelphia Police Department, according to Small. "It's a real tragedy," Small said.

PHILADELPHIA - The Philadelphia Police Department is investigating a fatal crash that killed a teenager and injured another person in West Philadelphia. According to Chief Inspector Scott Small, the incident happened just after 11 p.m. on Wednesday night. Officers with the 16th District and fire department paramedics received multiple 911 calls for a report of a car crash on the 800 block of N 44th Street, authorities say. Small says first responders found a 16-year-old severely injured and a 20-year-old with injuries on the sidewalk. The 16-year-old was taken to a local hospital, but he did not survive, according to police. Authorities say the 20-year-old was taken to the hospital and placed in stable condition with a possible broken leg. Investigators say a 27-year-old was driving a Toyota Highlander that crashed into the two pedestrians. Small says the driver has cuts and bruises and is suspected to be impaired.

PHILADELPHIA - Authorities are investigating a deadly hit-and-run crash that killed a young woman Monday night in Philadelphia's Germantown neighborhood. Officers from the Philadelphia Police Department were called to the intersection of Germantown Avenue and Culter Street just before 7 p.m. Police say a 21-year-old woman was found on the sidewalk with severe head trauma and bleeding heavily. MORE LOCAL HEADLINESThe unnamed victim was brought to Albert Einstein Medical Center where police say she died. Chief Inspector Scott Small told reporters that the victim was crossing Germantown Avenue when a speeding Tesla heading southbound struck the woman. She was hit with such force police say she was launched 12 feet in the air. Small said the wanted gray Tesla is believed to have heavy damage to the passenger's side and front windshield. 

PHILADELPHIA - An off-duty police officer was carjacked at gunpoint early Friday morning and the car was found on fire. Chief Inspector Scott Small says the carjacking happened around 12:15 a.m., officers with the 12th District responded to numerous calls for a carjacking, shots fired and an auto accident at the intersection of 56th and Pentridge Streets in Kingsessing. When police arrived on scene, they found an off-duty officer who said he was parking his Silver 2020 Toyota Highlander when a suspect with a gun stopped him, reached into his pockets to grab his keys and then stole his vehicle, authorities say. Small says the off-duty officer fired his gun, but it remains unclear if the carjacking suspect was shot. According to police, the suspect then crashed the off-duty officer's car into unattended parked cars and then continued going north on 56th Street. Hours later, a car was found burning in West Philadelphia and it was identified as the officer's car.

PHILADELPHIA - Homicide detectives with the Philadelphia Police Department are investigating a shooting that claimed the life of a 17-year-old in Center City. According to police, the shooting happened just before 11 p.m.

PHILADELPHIA - Authorities say a teenage Chick-fil-A employee was shot in the leg when an argument over a delivery order escalated to gunfire. Officers from the Philadelphia Police Department were dispatched to the restaurant on the 800 Adams Avenue for reports of a shooting. A 17-year-old was found shot in the left knee and taken by police to Albert Einstein Medical Center where he was placed in stable condition. Chief Inspector Scott Small told reporters that the shooting happened when a delivery service driver got into an argument with store employees about a pick-up order.The driver, according to Small, believed that he should have had more food than he received and fired one shot that struck the teen employee in the knee. Investigators believe the driver has at least one tattoo on his neck and was driving a "newer model white Mercedes."

PHILADELPHIA - Authorities say a young man was shot just feet from the front door of his North Philadelphia home Monday evening. Officers from the Philadelphia Police Department were called to the 2800 block of Bonsall Street from 5 p.m. for reports of gunfire. Chief Inspector Scott Small told reporters that officers found a crime scene, but they did not locate a victim. Police were later told that the victim, a 22-year-old man, was placed in a flatbed truck by family members and taken to a nearby hospital. MORE HEADLINESSmall said the unnamed victim was shot in the forehead, neck and shoulder by an unknown shooter.

PHILADELPHIA - A man was fatally shot Sunday night after visiting his sick mother, police say. Authorities say the incident happened on the 3300 block of Smedley Street in the city's North Philadelphia neighborhood just before 10:30 p.m. According to police, officers with the 39th District responded to several calls reporting gunshots. When police arrived on scene, they found a 40-year-old man on the ground next to his vehicle with the door open, per officials. Authorities say the man was shot at least one time in the head and he was bleeding heavily. Officers rushed the man to Temple University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 10:39 p.m., police say. Philadelphia Chief Inspector Scott Small says investigators know at least two shots were fired from a large caliber semiautomatic weapon. Investigators also believe the shooter was standing very close to the 40-year-old victim at the time of the shooting, according to police. "This is a tragic story because this 40-year-old does not live here," Small said. "He comes here and takes care of his mother who is sick, and he comes here on a regular basis [to] take care of his mother.
