WISSINOMING - Philadelphia firefighters battled a two-alarm blaze in a business in Philadelphia’s Wissinoming neighborhood.Officials said fire crews were called to the 6100 block of Frankford Avenue Sunday afternoon, around 3:30, for a reported fire at a Dollar Tree.When they arrived, firefighters were met with heavy smoke and flames streaming from the building.As they worked to get a handle on the blaze, it continued to grow and a second alarm was called within about a half hour after crews arrived.It took firefighters about an hour and a half to bring the blaze under control.The store was open when the fire started. Fire officials said everyone in the building evacuated safely and there were no injuries to customers, employees or firefighters.The cause of the fire is under investigation.

WILMINGTON, Del. - Delaware State Police are searching for the driver of a vehicle in connection with a fatal hit-and-run in Wilmington.During a preliminary investigation officials said a person was driving an unknown vehicle, possibly a gray or silver Honda, east on Augustine Cut Off near Rock Manor Avenue, early Sunday morning, just after 3:15. PERKASIE, Pa. - The Bucks County Fire Marshal is investigating a house fire that claimed the life of a 75-year-old woman, in Perkasie.Officials said fire crews were called to the 1300 block of Parkridge Court, in the Bucks County town, Sunday morning, just after 10:30, for a building fire.Firefighters got into the residence and found the woman dead in an upstairs bedroom.Crews spent about three and a half hours gaining control of the fire and dousing hot spots.The cause of the fire is under investigation.

A research conducted by Verite Research observes that economic management in Sri Lanka lacks compliance both by the bureaucracy and Parliament. Commenting on the new Public Finance Management Act proposed in September 2022, Verite Research suggests that rather than the lack of fiscal rules, the more critical problem for Sri Lanka may be the lack of compliance with fiscal rules in public finance management. The analysis, which was reported in a Verite publication titled Verite Insights, sheds light on how the Parliament of Sri Lanka had consistently revoked rules set out in the Fiscal Management (Responsibility) Act either by blatantly breaching them or by amending the rule whenever it became a constraint.The three rules that have been flouted include the rule on budgeted deficit, the rule on central government debt and the rule on treasury guarantees. The research further states that in order to recover confidence and build the economy, Sri Lanka may need deeper diagnostic and more robust correction mechanisms with regard to the crisis of governance.
