PHOENIX - Phoenix Police released a body cam video from Feb. 3 of an officer chasing a man on foot for a short period after he reportedly ran from a parked car with drugs.The video shows the man running from the officer, then once the officer catches up to him, he's brought to the ground and is arrested.A search warrant was served at a home connected to the man and police say they found about 67,000 fentanyl pills, about $14,000 and five guns.The identity of the suspect, in this case, hasn't been released.Drug busts in Phoenix aren't new as fentanyl has become increasingly more common to be sold and used in Arizona as it's often trafficked through the U.S.-Mexico border.Customs and Border Protection (CBP) said it had seen a "substantial increase" in fentanyl seizures at the southern border in January, just as it confirmed that there were 153,941 migrant encounters.There were 48,945 lbs of drugs seized at the southern border in January, which is down from 59,793 lbs encountered a year prior.

PHILADELPHIA - A double shooting has left two people in stable condition in the Wissinoming section of the city. The shooting happened at approximately 7:45 a.m. Sunday inside a home. A 45-year-old man was shot once in the forearm and suffered a grade wound to the head.

WASHINGTON - Ahead of President Biden's State of the Union Address on Tuesday, authorities in D.C. are making preparations.The United States Capitol Police announced Sunday that a fence has been mostly erected around the Capitol building. In a statement, Capitol Police Chief Tom Manger said that move was being made "out of an abundance of caution," in consultation with the Secret Service.READ MORE: DC National Guard activates Guard members ahead of trucker protestsHe added that his force's "mission to protect the United States Congress, the Capitol, and the legislative process remains unwavering."Manger also announced several road closures.

INDIANAPOLIS - Indianapolis police say two people were shot and wounded at a Jewish community center on Hoover Road on Saturday afternoon.Both people were hospitalized in stable condition, police announced at 2:30 p.m. ET. About 30 minutes later, police said they had ruled out a possible hate crime or religious motivation in the incident.Police shut down the area surrounding the JCC at 6701 Hoover Road, but said there was "no ongoing threat."RELATED: Israeli, Palestinian representatives propose 2-state confederation to work towards peace efforts"A perimeter has been set up nearby [and] residents can expect police activity in that area," the Indianapolis Metro Police Department tweeted. "Drivers are asked to avoid the area."Additional information about the suspect and victims was not immediately available. The JCC is a 108-year-old community center.

PHILADELPHIA - A woman has been hospitalized after a shooting in North Philadelphia Saturday afternoon. The shooting happened shortly after 1 p.m. at 25th and Thompson Streets. Police say the 29-year-old woman was shot once in the right shoulder and was rushed to a local hospital.

LAS VEGAS (AP) - Fourteen people were shot before dawn Saturday morning at a hookah parlor and police said one person died and that two of the victims suffered critical injuries.Police Capt. Dori Koren said the shooting happened at about 3:15 a.m.

MILWAUKEE - A suspect was shot by Milwaukee police after he allegedly opened fire inside the District 5 lobby on Friday, Feb. 25.Police Chief Jeffrey Norman said the suspect, identified as a 23-year-old Milwaukee man, walked in around 3 p.m.

LANGHORNE, Pa. - A man is facing charges after authorities said he choked a paramedic when he was asked to wear a mask at a Bucks County hospital. Officers from the Fall Township Police Department on Monday responded to Jefferson Bucks Hospital for reports of a man who assaulted a paramedic. According to police, the paramedic told police 42-year-old Jeffrey Choi grabbed his neck when he was told to put on a mask. Another paramedic and hospital staff restrained Choi until officers arrived, police said. Choi has been charged with aggravated assault and disorderly conduct.

Police are urging Scots to be vigilant following a Covid-19 text scam that is currently doing the rounds.

CHELTENHAM, Pa. - A carjacking suspect and another person were arrested Thursday in Montgomery County after police say they tried to flee when officers were closing in on their car. The Cheltenham Police Department said a vehicle believed to have been carjacked out of Philadelphia was spotted in the parking lot of Cheltenham High School around 4 p.m. One of the people inside the vehicle was believed to be armed with a handgun, according to information given to the department by the Philadelphia Carjacking Task Force. When marked patrol cars approached the vehicle, police say the driver sped off and lead officers on a brief pursuit that ended when the driver slammed into another car. Three people got out of the car and tried to run away, but two were quickly detained.

Philadelphia police are searching for missing 6-year-old Naseer Humphrey.  PHILADELPHIA - Police are searching for a missing 6-year-old who was last seen with his father two weeks ago.Naseer Humphrey, who lives with his mother on the 1300 block of 71st Street, was last seen with his father, 40-year-old Abdul Humphrey.The two were spotted leaving Philadelphia police's 35th district headquarters on February 11 around 6 p.m, according to police.Authorities say a custody order required Abdul to return Naseer to his mother on February 13, but that did not happen.According to police, neither Abdul or Naseer have been located.RELATED: Philadelphia mother, son have not been seen since Tuesday morningNaseer is 4-feet tall and 73 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes.

PHILADELPHIA - Police are searching for two suspects accused of robbing two people at gunpoint before abducting one of them from a store in Logan.Police say the incident happened on Wednesday around 9:41 p.m.Officers responded to a report of gunshots and an abduction at the 4900 block of North Broad Street.A 21-year-old man and a 24-year-old woman were inside a Chinese store on the corner of Broad and Rockland Street, according to police.Authorities say the man walked out of the store where one of the suspects took his car keys and chain at gunpoint.The suspect shot at him three times.

PHILADELPHIA - Detectives with the Philadelphia Police Department are investigating a double homicide in Strawberry Mansion that took place on Wednesday night.According to police, officers responded to a call for gunshots around 10:30 p.m. in the 3000 block of West Arizona. When authorities arrived at the address, they found a car that appeared to have crashed into a parked van.Two men, one in the driver seat and one in the front passenger seat, were found with gunshot wounds to the head inside of the car, police say.Medics pronounced both of them dead at the scene.

PHILADELPHIA - Police said a man was found fatally shot in the living room of an Overbrook Park home on Wednesday night. Officers from the Philadelphia Police Department were dispatched to the 900 block of North 68th Street around 8 p.m. for reports of an unresponsive man. Police said the 48-year-old victim was in the first-floor living room with a gunshot wound to the head.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau revoked the use of the Emergencies Act on Wednesday, explaining that there were “occupations so solidly implanted that police didn’t have the resources or tools available to dislodge them, that emergency is now over.” Trudeau added that the “threat continues,” but that his government has a high level of confidence in the existing tools police forces have across Canada will be sufficient to deal with further disruptions.

Police say a 20-year-old man suffered a non-fatal-gunshot wound Wednesday afternoon in North Philadelphia.

Las Vegas police are continuing to investigate the death of a child after his body was found in a freezer in a home where his mother and her boyfriend were living, officials said.The mother’s boyfriend was arrested as a suspect and was detained on two kidnapping charges and a murder charge, after authorities searched the home and found the body of the preschool-age boy, who was last seen in Dec., Fox 5 of Las Vegas reported. The investigation into the home started after the mother gave a note to her other child, who was instructed to give it to their elementary school teacher, officials said.RELATED: 78-year-old woman robbed while praying in churchThe note said the mother was being held against her will and that she has not seen her son since Dec. 11., and assumed he was dead, Fox 5 reported. The teacher forwarded the note to Clark County School District Police Department officers, who then called Las Vegas police, officials said.Police officers surveilled the home until they saw the couple leave at about 10 a.m.

AUSTIN, Texas - Texas Gov. Greg Abbott has directed the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services (DFPS) to investigate reported instances of "abusive gender-transitioning procedures" done on Texas children.Abbott sent a letter to DFPS earlier this week saying the law "imposes a duty on DFPS to investigate the parents of children subjected to gender-transitioning procedures, and on other state agencies to investigate licensed facilities where such procedures may occur."The letter comes after Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton released a formal opinion concluding that "performing certain ‘sex-change' procedures on children, and prescribing puberty-blockers to them, is 'child abuse’ under Texas law."Abbott's letter also states that Texas law imposes reporting requirements on licensed professionals with direct contact with children, including doctors, nurses, and teachers, and criminal penalties for failing to report abuse. In August 2021, Abbott had previously directed DFPS to issue a determination on whether gender reassignment surgery constituted as child abuse.In a letter to the governor, Commissioner Jaime Masters determined that "genital mutation of a child through reassignment surgery" constitutes child abuse because it may cause "a genuine threat of substantial harm from physical injury to the child"."Genital mutilation of a child through reassignment surgery is child abuse," reads Commissioner Masters' letter.

KENT, Wash. - Police rescued a disabled woman who was stuck in a car for nine days after it was towed from a gas station parking lot to a tow yard in Burien. According to Kent Police, the woman was reported missing by her sister after she hadn't been seen since earlier in the month.Officers determined that the last time the woman was seen was on Feb. 5 with her mother, a 45-year-old Kent resident.

ABINGTON TOWNSHIP, Pa. - Police in Jenkintown say they have arrested a man for his role in the "road rage"-style assault on a woman that happened on February 10. Police say the incident happened shortly after 8 a.m. that Thursday.According to police, the female victim turned into a parking lot from Old York Road after an enraged motorist began tailgating her. The man that was following her, continued to do so and pulled his car around to block her path of travel. Police say the man then approach the victim's vehicle and when she lowered her window, he punched her in the face, grabbed her cell phone from her lap, and smashed it on the ground before fleeing from the scene. After a thorough investigation, police were able to identify the suspect as 42-year-old Tyree Darnell Lawson.

BRENTWOOD, Calif. - A woman had her scalp torn off by a Brentwood police dog after she shoplifted some perfume and makeup from a nearby mall, video obtained by KTVU shows, raising serious questions about when and why K-9 units are deployed. Talmika Bates, then 24, is seen in the video provided by her lawyers screaming and wailing in pain. The skin on top of her head was ripped off exposing blood and bone. "Help me! The dog is biting me," she screams.

Gloria Reyes PHOENIX - Court documents show police in Phoenix have arrested a homeless woman for allegedly shooting and killing her own father.The suspect, identified in court documents as Gloria Loreal Reyes, was arrested on the morning of Feb. 21.

The investigation into an alleged attack on a natural gas pipeline worksite in northern B.C. continues, say the Mounties, who released three video clips on Tuesday of the incident.

PHILADELPHIA - A heartbroken Philadelphia mother is begging for justice after her son died in a broad daylight street shooting a week ago in Germantown. Officers from the Philadelphia Police Department were dispatched to the 500 block of East Duval Street around noon on Feb. 15 for reports of a shooting. Police found 26-year-old Kadene Bryant lying on the street with three deadly gunshot wounds to the head. Mignon Bryant, the victim's mother, said Kadene was the father of a 4-year-old and soon-to-be fiancé. Police say 26-year-old Kadene Bryant was shot and killed in broad daylight in Philadelphia's Germantown neighborhood.

A 43-year-old man was shot and killed at a storage facility in Crescentville. PHILADELPHIA - Authorities are investigating a deadly shooting that happened Tuesday night near a storage facility in Philadelphia's Crescentville section. Officers from the Philadelphia Police Department were called to the 6200 block of Oxford Avenue around 6:30 p.m.

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. - Authorities in Tennessee are looking for a group of women who robbed a 78-year-old woman while she prayed in church.Clarksville police said the robbery happened Feb. 9 inside the sanctuary at Hilldale Baptist Church.Officers said the elderly woman was praying when two women approached her, asking for prayers as well.

PHILADELPHIA - A Philadelphia judge dismissed assault and other charges Tuesday against two former city police officers who are brothers, stemming from an off-duty encounter in which they allegedly injured a man they mistakenly thought was breaking into cars.Prosecutors said James Smith, 53, and Patrick Smith, 54, physically confronted a 27-year-old pedestrian with Asperger's syndrome in a shopping center parking lot in August 2020, leaving him with multiple injuries. The brothers allegedly lied about being part of a town watch.Municipal Court Judge William Austin Meehan Jr.

PHILADELPHIA - A young man is dead after police say he was shot multiple times Monday afternoon in Philadelphia's Frankford neighborhood. Officers from the Philadelphia Police Department were called to the 1700 block of Brill Street around 4 p.m. for reports of a shooting. Police said a 21-year-old man was found with multiple gunshot wounds throughout the body. He was brought to a Philadelphia hospital where police say he died. No arrests were reported immediately following the deadly shooting.

Shalynn Reed Taylor, 43, is facing a list of charges following a fight at Coatesville Area Senior High that injured at least 5.

One person is in custody amid an ongoing operation with a heavy police presence at the Rideau Centre in downtown Ottawa.

BRUNSWICK, Ga. - Nearly two years to the day 25-year-old Ahmaud Arbery was fatally shot while running through a neighborhood in Brunswick, Georgia, the three men who chased him were convicted of hate crimes. The guilty verdicts in the seven-day trial come months after Travis McMichael, Gregory McMichael and William "Roddie" Bryan were convicted of murder. The verdicts, however, are likely not to be the last chapter in the saga that may unfold in courtrooms for years to come.JURY FIND MEN WHO KILLED AHMAUD ARBERY GUILTY OF HATE CRIMESOn the courthouse steps, Wanda Cooper-Jones indicated her son can "rest in power," after the three men involved in his death stood trial. BRUNSWICK, Ga. - A federal grand jury has found the three men convicted of killing Ahmaud Arbery guilty on all counts of interfering with the victim's civil rights Tuesday in connection to the deadly shooting of the jogger in Georgia.Tuesday morning, the jury told Judge Lisa Godbey Wood that they found father and son Greg and Travis McMichael and neighbor William "Roddie" Bryan guilty of violating Arbery's civil rights and targeting the 25-year-old man because he was Black. All three men were previously convicted of murder in a Georgia state court and sentenced to life in prison for the fatal shooting.All three men were found guilty of interference with Arbery's rights and attempted kidnapping.
