Amaraweera calls for report on road in Rumassala

COLOMBO (News1st): Environment minister Mahinda Amaraweera has called for a report on an matter regarding a request made by area residents to develop a roadway situated in the Rumassala mountain.The minister has instructed to refrain from approving the proposed construction, disrupting the Rumassala eco-system and to promptly present him with a feasibility report, a ministry statement noted.But the statement does not include specific information regarding the roadway.Environmentalists point out that plans have been drawn to construct a tarmac road 20 feet in width stretching from Yaddehimulla to Peella Junction in Rumassala.They further warn that a section of about 200 meters between the Galhena stream and the Pilla junction will be.
