Almost 200,000 Covid-19 PCR tests have been lab-tested in the last seven days, with 82% of those requesting a test receiving one within 24 hours.
The Chief Executive of the Health Service Executive, Paul Reid, has urged those who are symptomatic to try and book a test via the HSE's website.
Speaking on RTÉ's Morning Ireland, Mr Reid said they are prioritising referrals from GPs and those who are symptomatic.
