The Minister for Health has announced the removal of all States from the list of designated states for Mandatory Hotel Quarantine.
Stephen Donnelly announced the removal of all remaining countries from the list of states designated for the purposes of Mandatory Hotel Quarantine (MHQ) with effect from today.
In a statement released this afternoon, Mr Donnelly said the "decision is based on the latest advice received from the Chief Medical Officer".
Mandatory Hotel Quarantine was introduced in Ireland in late March to help stop the spread of Covid-19. In its early days, it was beset by problems, with people absconding, complaints about conditions and the sick and bereaved appealing for leniency.
