Nicola Sturgeon will deliver an update on the state of the coronavirus pandemic in Scotland at Holyrood tomorrow. The First Minister has been urged to bring Scotland in line with the rest of the UK by finally lifting the rule requiring face masks to be worn in indoor public spaces.
But there are fears over a growing number of Covid infections in Scotland. The latest Office for National Statistics (ONS) data has estimated that around one in 11 people had the virus in Scotland in the week ending March 19.Some opposition politicians have even called for all remaining Covid restrictions to be lifted in Scotland.Scottish Conservative leader Douglas Ross said: “Nicola Sturgeon must give up control over people's lives and ditch Covid rules tomorrow. "She can’t use the higher case rates that she has completely failed to reduce as an excuse to delay or backtrack on lifting the remaining restrictions."We have now been living under some form of legal Covid restrictions for over two years.
Nicola Sturgeon must now start to trust the Scottish public to keep themselves safe.”Here is a reminder of the current Covid rules and regulations that remain in place ahead of Nicola Sturgeon’s announcement tomorrow.Did you know you can keep up to date with the latest news by signing up to our daily newsletter? We send a morning and lunchtime newsletter covering the latest headlines every day.We also send coronavirus updates at 5pm on weekdays, and a round up of the week's must-read stories on Sunday afternoons.Signing up is simple, easy and free. You can pop your email address into the sign up box above, hit Subscribe and we'll do the rest.Alternatively, you can sign up and check out the rest of our newsletters here.
