Airdrie have today confirmed that they will "mothball" their Academy and Reserves as the cut their cloth amid the Covid-19 crisis.
Last week Lanarkshire Live Sport revealed that there would be no reserve side next season as 17 players were released by the club.
The Diamonds today revealed that they will be "reassessing" the decision in the future with a first-team focus next term. The club statement read: "Unfortunately Airdrieonians FC have taken the difficult decision to mothball our Academy and Reserve Team operations this year, with a view to reassessing at a later date. "The issue of preparing our facilities for reintroducing the professional game in a safe workplace environment for our first-team players is crucial, and we doubt that.
