NEWTOWN, Pa. - Firefighter in Bucks County rescued a man from the roof of a burning condo fire that erupted Fourth of July morning.Emergency crews responded to Nathan Court in the Newtown Gate Townhomes community for reports of a two-story fire at an end unit. Firefighters from the Newtown Fire Department said when they arrived they found a man standing on the roof of the burning home. Deputy Chief Liz Ellis told reporters the firefighters quickly stretched a ladder to the roof and helped guide the man down. He was brought to a local hospital with burns, FOX 29's Joann Pileggi reports. A neighbor who witnessed the Independence Day blaze first thought the sirens were from a local parade, then smelled the smoke. "I was actually hearing sirens going on like nearby I thought they were passing by the highway maybe Fourth of July related but then my Ring door alarm said there’s a fire, and it gave my street name, and then I smelled smoke and ran outside," Devrim Eren said.The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

UPPER DARBY, Pa. - A teenager is being sought in connection to a deadly shooting in the basement of a Delaware County home that claimed the life of a 14-year-old boy. Jermaine Young, 16, is wanted on several charges, including third-degree murder and involuntary manslaughter, according to an affidavit. Officer from the Upper Darby Police Department were called to a home on the 6900 block of Ruskin Lane shortly before 7 p.m. Friday night. According to investigators, police found the 14-year-old victim suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest.

MUMBAI : The Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority (IRDA) on Monday agreed to look into the Covid-19 policy claims that were rejected by insurance companies.  This comes after a public interest litigation was filed by a Manav Seva Dham (petitioner), a social services’ trust against various insurance companies before the Bombay High Court.  According to the petition, it has been alleged that various insurance providers engaged in a number of offences, misusing policyholder funds, rerouting funds through additional businesses, and paying exorbitant overriding commissions to banks and their agents.  “The insurance companies are unjustly denying their Covid-19-related claims, it claimed, even in the midst of the ongoing pandemic Covid-19, in which the country’s residents have not only lost their jobs but also depleted their money", it said.  Additionally, the petitioner submitted that Insurance companies have caused wrongful losses to the policyholders.  Essentially the petitioner asked the court to ass an order to ensure that the insurance claims submitted by the policyholders due to Covid-19 pandemic were not arbitrarily rejected.  The petition stated that due to the widespread pandemic the general insurance companies received a significant lot of claims from the policyholders. PHILADELPHIA - Police are investigating a shootout in Frankford that sent three people to the hospital, including one man who was shot in the head. Just after 10 p.m. on Thursday night, 15th District officers on patrol heard gunshots coming from the intersection of Arrott and Griscom Streets, according to Philadelphia Chief Inspector Scott Small. Officers found a 30-year-old man sitting in the driver's seat of an SUV with a gunshot wound to the head, authorities say. According to Small, the man was rushed to Temple Hospital, where he is in critical condition.

PHILADELPHIA - James Holton's world was rocked when he got the news that his niece Jailene Holton was fatally shot at a bar in Northeast Philadelphia on Tuesday night. What began as a rare outing for the 21-year-old woman, who hardly ever drank or went out according to family, ended in tragedy at the Philly Bar & Restaurant. Authorities say 8th District officers responded to numerous reports of a shooting and found Holton suffering from a gunshot wound to the head. She was transferred to Jefferson-Torresdale Hospital to undergo surgery, but she later died, police say. Holton's family says she was serving as the designated driver for a night out with a friend that began at Top Golf and ended at the bar. FOX 29 learned that a group of three men walked into the bar and one of them wanted to play billiards but was turned down because a billiards league was using the pool table. Authorities say the man began to cause a disturbance and he was escorted out of the bar with the two other men he arrived with. As the disturbance escalated, patrons in the bar were advised to stand at the back of the bar for their safety, sources told FOX 29's Steve Keeley. Jailene Holton, 21, is remembered by her family as a quiet woman who worked and didn't go out often.

PHILADELPHIA - The Philadelphia Police Department is investigating after an off-duty corrections officer was carjacked at gunpoint and shot at the alleged carjacker in Feltonville on Monday night. According to Chief Inspector Scott Small, officers with the 25th District received a 911 call for a robbery and gunshots on the 200 block of E Roosevelt Boulevard around 11 p.m. When officers arrived on location, they were met by an off-duty corrections officer, 59, who said he was leaving a friend's house and getting into his Toyota Avalon when he was approached by a man with a gun who pulled him out of the car, police say. According to authorities, the alleged carjacker got into the driver's seat of the car and began to drive away as the off-duty corrections officer fired five shots at the suspect and the car. The suspect sped off in the car and officers located it about 25 minutes later on the 4900 block of Bingham Street, officials say. Small says the vehicle was found with five bullet holes in it and fresh blood inside the car. Authorities say officers were also notified that a 21-year-old shooting victim with a gunshot wound in each arm showed up for treatment at Temple Hospital. Small says there is a possibility that the shooting victim may be the alleged carjacker and authorities are investigating. According to police, the off-duty officer said the suspect was wearing a surgical mask and a hooded sweatshirt with the hood pulled over his head.

PHILADELPHIA - The Philadelphia Police Department is investigating a fatal crash that killed a teenager and injured another person in West Philadelphia. According to Chief Inspector Scott Small, the incident happened just after 11 p.m. on Wednesday night. Officers with the 16th District and fire department paramedics received multiple 911 calls for a report of a car crash on the 800 block of N 44th Street, authorities say. Small says first responders found a 16-year-old severely injured and a 20-year-old with injuries on the sidewalk. The 16-year-old was taken to a local hospital, but he did not survive, according to police. Authorities say the 20-year-old was taken to the hospital and placed in stable condition with a possible broken leg. Investigators say a 27-year-old was driving a Toyota Highlander that crashed into the two pedestrians. Small says the driver has cuts and bruises and is suspected to be impaired.

PHILADELPHIA - A New York man who was captured on Ring doorbell camera violently punching three women on a sidewalk in Philadelphia will now face charges, according to authorities. The Philadelphia District Attorney tells FOX 29's Steve Keeley that Malcolm White, 36, will face charges connected to the attack. According to police, the attack happened on the 2900 block of Morris Street around 11 p.m. on June 15. Authorities say as White walked beside a group of three women, he punched one of them in the face and punched the others as they intervened. Authorities are searching for a man captured on doorbell camera attacking three women who were walking down a Philadelphia street.The attack left one woman with a broken nose and two other women with swelling and facial lacerations. PREVIOUS: Police: Man arrested in Montgomery County may be linked to Philadelphia attacks on womenAbout 20 minutes later, White allegedly knocked a woman in her 30s unconscious while sitting outside a property on the 1900 block of South 13th Street. MORE LOCAL HEADLINESWhite is also a suspect in a violent carjacking case out of Montgomery County and a sexual assault in Philadelphia, officials say. He was arrested last Thursday in Whitpain Township after police say a woman was pulled from her car by her hair and punched in the face in the parking lot of Henkels and McCoy on Jolly Road where the victim worked. The victim told police her attacker choked her, causing her to lose consciousness, according to an affidavit.

PHILADELPHIA - Loved ones are grieving the loss of a Philadelphia woman who police say was killed by a hit-and-run driver Monday night in Germantown.Dia Lee, 21, was crossing Germantown Avenue on Culter Street around 7 p.m. when police say a speeding Tesla struck her and kept driving.The car is still being sought by police and is said to have extensive damage to the front windshield and passenger's side.Police shared photos of the wanted vehicle hours after the fatal crash and urged anyone with information to reach out to the Philadelphia Police Department.Marc Lamont Hill told FOX 29 that Lee worked at his business, Uncle Bobbie’s Coffee and Books, since it opened in 2017.

PHILADELPHIA - Authorities are investigating a deadly hit-and-run crash that killed a young woman Monday night in Philadelphia's Germantown neighborhood. Officers from the Philadelphia Police Department were called to the intersection of Germantown Avenue and Culter Street just before 7 p.m. Police say a 21-year-old woman was found on the sidewalk with severe head trauma and bleeding heavily. MORE LOCAL HEADLINESThe unnamed victim was brought to Albert Einstein Medical Center where police say she died. Chief Inspector Scott Small told reporters that the victim was crossing Germantown Avenue when a speeding Tesla heading southbound struck the woman. She was hit with such force police say she was launched 12 feet in the air. Small said the wanted gray Tesla is believed to have heavy damage to the passenger's side and front windshield. 

PHILADELPHIA - An off-duty police officer was carjacked at gunpoint early Friday morning and the car was found on fire. Chief Inspector Scott Small says the carjacking happened around 12:15 a.m., officers with the 12th District responded to numerous calls for a carjacking, shots fired and an auto accident at the intersection of 56th and Pentridge Streets in Kingsessing. When police arrived on scene, they found an off-duty officer who said he was parking his Silver 2020 Toyota Highlander when a suspect with a gun stopped him, reached into his pockets to grab his keys and then stole his vehicle, authorities say. Small says the off-duty officer fired his gun, but it remains unclear if the carjacking suspect was shot. According to police, the suspect then crashed the off-duty officer's car into unattended parked cars and then continued going north on 56th Street. Hours later, a car was found burning in West Philadelphia and it was identified as the officer's car.

PHILADELPHIA - Homicide detectives with the Philadelphia Police Department are investigating a shooting that claimed the life of a 17-year-old in Center City. According to police, the shooting happened just before 11 p.m.
