East Kilbride region have tested positive for coronavirus. However, the News understands the number is higher, with one source telling us of a primary pupil at a school in the town testing positive.That has raised concerns about the speed at which COVID-19 is spreading through schools across the area.

The latest cases come at St Andrew’s and St Bride’s High and Strathaven Academy. Letters circulated to parents from the NHS confirmed the cases.Dr S Josephine Pravinkumar, consultant in public health medicine, told parents in Strathaven that a pupil had tested positive and was “self-isolating at home”.Her letter was mirrored by her colleague in public health, Ashley Goodfellow, who told St Andrew’s and St Bride’s parents a pupil there had.
