73-year-old NYC man attacked in broad daylight in attempted robbery

PHILADELPHIA - Police say a teenager was killed Monday during a broad daylight shooting near Temple University's campus. Officers from the Philadelphia Police Department were called to the 2200 block of North 15th Street just before 3 p.m. for reports of a shooting. Police say they found a male victim, believed to be between 14-18-years old, suffering from gunshot wounds to the shoulder, back and torso. He was taken to Temple University Hospital where he died, according to police. The deadly shooting happened near Temple University's campus, an area that has seen a recent spike in violent crimes.

Fathers, grandfathers and brothers of students at Jenks Academy in Chestnut Hill discuss their group Jenks Dads on Duty. PHILADELPHIA - Jenks Dads on Duty, a local group of men promoting safety at a Chestnut Hill school, is doing their part to help keep students safe. The group is made up of grandfathers, fathers and brothers of students at Jenks Academy for the Arts and Sciences. The men do everything from directing traffic to assisting parents as they escort their children to and from school grounds. Under the umbrella of the Home and School Association of Jenks, the group makes it their business to make sure students are safe. Additionally, the group talks to students about topics like conflict resolution and have weekly cleanups on the school campus. Several of the fathers joined Good Day Philadelphia to discuss why they volunteer at the school. A group of fathers, grandfathers and brothers of students who attend Jenks Academy for the Arts and Sciences in Philadelphia join Good Day Philadelphia to discuss their efforts to keep students safe.One dad whose four daughters attend the school said volunteering with the group is their way of giving back to the community. "Having four kids that go to the school and helping these other kids out is I think our way to give back to the community," he said.

BENSALEM TOWNSHIP, Pa. - A Montgomery County man has been arrested and charged in connection to two separate road rage shootings on Interstate 276, police say. According to Pennsylvania State Police, 29-year-old Andre Kenny Mark Green of Fort Washington was arrested and charged. Police say troopers responded to the Bensalem Turnpike Interchange for a report of a man in a gray sedan who shot at a Ford F-150. According to investigators, two shell casings were recovered from the scene. ___MORE LOCAL HEADLINES Days later, troopers were dispatched to the westbound side of the highway in the area of mile marker 347 in Bensalem Township for a report of a shooting. Investigators say they learned a gray Kia Forte, operated by a similar man from the March 15 shooting, shot at a person's vehicle. The victims in both incidents were not hurt, according to authorities. Pennsylvania State Police says Green was arrested at his job in Fairless Hills on April 1 at 6 a.m.

PHILADELPHIA - Police are investigating the fatal shooting of a man in Southwest Philadelphia, authorities say. According to investigators, the incident happened on the 6500 block of Lindbergh Boulevard at 4:52 p.m.Police say a 23-year-old man was shot seven times through the body. He was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 5:13 p.m., according to investigators. Police say one arrest has been made and no guns were recovered.

Mack III, 33, were on the highway responding to a call for a man walking in the southbound lanes of the roadway when police say all three were struck and killed by a suspected drunk driver. Authorities say Jayana Tanae Webb, 21, was behind the wheel of the SUV when it plowed into the men, sending all three over the median and into the northbound lanes.

CAMDEN, N.J. - A New Jersey man who conspired with his girlfriend to concoct a feelgood story about a helpful homeless man and then used the lie to raise hundreds of thousands of dollars in donations online is scheduled to be sentenced in a federal court Friday. Last fall, Mark D’Amico pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to commit wire fraud. An indictment unsealed in January 2020 charged D'Amico with a total of 16 counts of conspiracy, wire fraud and money laundering.D’Amico, his former girlfriend Katelyn McClure, and a homeless veteran named Johnny Bobbitt were accused of making up a story in 2017 about Bobbitt giving $20 to help McClure when her car ran out of gas in Philadelphia.D'Amico and McClure solicited donations through GoFundMe, purportedly to help Bobbitt, and conducted newspaper and television interviews.
