Increase in deaths expected There has been a "worrying and concerning" increase in Covid cases, as well as admissions to hospitals and intensive care units in recent weeks, according to the Chief Medical Officer.
Speaking at this afternoon's briefing of the National Public Health Emergency Team, Dr Tony Holohan said he anticipates this increase will be followed by a rise in the number of Covid-related deaths.
There have been 63 deaths reported in the last week, while the number of people with Covid who are being treated in ICUs around the country has increased by 14 in the last 24 hours.
