There have been 242 new cases of Covid-19 reported today by the Department of Health. The number of people with the virus in hospital is 67, of whom 23 are in ICU.

This is one more than yesterday. Northern Ireland's Department of Health has reported 87 new cases, and no further deaths due to Covid-19 during past 24 hours.

Earlier today, a public health expert warned that some Covid-19 variants are becoming more infectious and are slowly, but steadily, increasing their ability to "dodge" vaccines.

Meanwhile, the roll-out of the Covid-19 vaccination programme enters a new phase, with around 1,000 community pharmacists set to administer vaccine dose.
