16 Covid-related deaths and 973 cases reported in NI

A further 16 coronavirus-related deaths have been recorded in Northern Ireland, with 13 occurring during the past 24 hours. It takes the official Department of Health toll to 1,533 since the outbreak began.

There are also 973 new cases of Covid-19 from tests on 3,596 individuals. It takes the cumulative number of positive tests to 92,782.

There are 850 confirmed coronavirus patients in hospital, with 58 being treated in ICU, 44 of whom are on ventilators. The average seven-day infection rate per 100,000 for Northern Ireland is 412.9.

The highest rate is in the Armagh, Banbridge and Craigavon council area with 623.4, followed by Mid Ulster on 611.4, while the lowest is Ards and North Down with 231.2. Latest coronavirus stories Meanwhile
