More than 150 passengers were flown to Dublin today on an Irish Government repatriation flight from Marrakesh in Morocco, which was operated by Ryanair.

As well as Irish people, the 156 passengers on board included citizens from the UK and across Europe. The flight was organised by staff at the newly opened Irish embassy in Rabat, Morocco.

No further direct flights to Ireland are expected. On Twitter, the Minister for Foreign Affairs thanked the embassy team in Morocco for a "great job".

Flights to and from Morocco were suspended on 29 November for two weeks following concerns there over the new Omicron variant of Covid-19 leaving many people stranded.
